Honest, not a traffic light

Many companion planting charts contradict each other. Even the Bavarian Garden Academy writes that neighbour effects are hard to prove.

So every tip shows how well it is backed: green and red only with a study or a clear reason. Tradition stays grey.

Questions and answers

Where do the frost dates come from?

From the daily records of the German weather service (DWD), 1991–2020. For each year we find the last spring day below 0 °C and use the nearest station to your postcode.

I don’t live in Germany. Does it work for me?

The postcode lookup covers Germany only. In the planting calendar you can enter your own last frost date, and every plant page shows the weeks before or after frost.

Is there a moon calendar?

No. We found no evidence for sowing by the moon. We work with frost dates.
